RFK Jr.’s VP Pick, Nicole Shanahan, has revealed that the Democratic Party is increasingly anxious about the possibility of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent presidential campaign aligning with Donald Trump. This revelation comes at the same time when Shanahan stresses on the importance of equity in the electoral process and its openness.
VP Pick Exposes Democrats’ Donald Trump Fear
Nicole Shanahan, the vice-presidential candidate for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent presidential campaign, has recently responded to the Democratic Party’s internal concerns over the possibilities of an alliance between RFK Jr. and Donald Trump.
Shanahan said that her former Democratic colleagues have been coming to her to ask her about their concerns regarding this possible alliance in the 2024 presidential race.
”My old Dem buddies have been calling, texting and emailing me in a state of panic,” Shanahan said.
While she did not reveal details of the discussions, Shanahan pointed out that the democratic party is alarmed by the possibility of the partnership.
Shanahan pointed to the Democratic hypocrisy, saying,
“When I explain how the Democratic Party and their super PACs have hurt our campaign, their answer is always, ‘But Trump is worse’. ”
RFK VP also explained that Kennedy’s campaign is not about trying to ‘steal the votes’ from other candidates but to promote the policies that the campaign stands for, including those related to cryptocurrency and economic freedom.
Potential Shift in the RFK Jr. Campaign
Shanahan also revealed that the Pro-Bitcoin RFK Jr. campaign may be planning a major change in its approach. The campaign is evaluating two potential paths: continuing with the race with the aim of crossing the 5% barrier in the popular vote to pave the way for a third party or dropping out of the race to support Donald Trump.
RFK VP also noted that this is not a simple decision, as the initial plan was to win the presidency and embrace crypto and reformism.
The RFK Jr. campaign’s focus on cryptocurrencies has raised interest, especially among voters interested in the regulation and growth of the crypto space. An alliance with Donald Trump, who has also expressed an interest in cryptocurrency, could also shape the future of the campaign and its effects on the US 2024 elections.
Volunteer Backlash and Campaign Uncertainty
Speculations that Pro-Bitcoin RFK Jr. may quit the campaign for Donald Trump have created controversy among the Kennedy campaign volunteers. Several of them, who have invested a great deal of time and energy into the campaign, voiced their concerns over affiliating with Trump. They claimed that by doing so, the campaign would compromise its independence and contribute to the two-party system’s dominance.
A recent Zoom conference with more than 100 Kennedy campaign workers provided a glimpse into the stress and anxiety about the campaign’s prospects. Some volunteers said that they should continue supporting him even if he endorses Trump, while others said that they should write him in as a way of protesting if he endorses Trump.
On the same note, Donald Trump has recently endorsed a cryptocurrency project, ‘The Defiant Ones,’ according to a CoinGape report. This endorsement aligns with Trump’s general disdain for traditional financial systems and his outreach to voters interested in decentralized finance. This may also make it even more possible for to join hands with Trump as both seem to be trying to woo the voters who favour crypto.
